Still Waiting on my Christmas Spirit to Arrive

Friends, Countrymen/women, I am NOT feeling it for the holidays this year.

I kept thinking that once the show was done and our schedule settled down that I would feel more enthusiastic. The show has been over for a week now, our schedule is much less hectic than it was, and I still have the attitude that Christmas Cheer is just one more damn thing I have to do.

At this late date I think I am going to give it up and just accept that I have low enthusiasm this year.

Maybe Fed Ex will bring it to me tomorrow. They make deliveries on Christmas Eve? Right?

I'm in the exact same boat, Missy. I have soooo not felt the Christmas spirit one bit this year. Frankly, I could have done without the whole ordeal - I even skipped church services on Christmas Eve - very unlike me. Ba humbug, my friend. Let's toast each other and drink too much. :)

I think we should devise our very own cranky cocktail.

Yeah, I didn't get it this year, either, Missy. I was so tired I didn't want to pack to go to Topeka--didn't want to open presents here, there, or anywhere else--didn't want to finish shopping or do anything else--even tried to get out of going to Midnight Mass which I normally love. Fortunately I have kids who forced me to do all of the above and end up sort of enjoying it, but what will I do when I'm an empty-nester?

Maybe the spirit will come back next year. Heck, we even had the second white Christmas in a row and that didn't help me--how pathetic is that?
