I just bought....


A 22 pound turkey.

That is one big motherf$#@&*! bird!

Wonder how long it will take that bad boy to thaw out.

I probably should have started today.

It will probably take me three days just to roast the damn thing.

Oh yeah! I nearly forgot!! I also get to peel, boil, and mash 10 pounds of potatoes.

(and make two pies, and two pans of my famous hashbrown casserole. We like to have a variety of starchy foods at my family feasts. No such thing as too many potatoes!)

Now can anyone tell me why I thought Thanksgiving at my house was a good idea?

I've had the deep-fried turkey, and it's goooood. Apparently, not that unhealthy either, if you don't eat the skin. Of course, that crispy deliciousness is the best part...

I dunno if my family will go for it. They got upset with me one year for bringing garlic mashed potatoes. They like tradition at turkey time. We once did a turkey on the grill with lime and oregano. It browned so beautifully it looked like the turkeys in commercials. Tasty too. Again my family turned their noses up at my "fancy" turkey. Oh yeah, then there was the time I brought pumpkin cheesecake...again with the crazy "fancy" dishes. So given my past experience you can see why I hesitate. However...they are at my house so I guess it is MY RULES!!! Garlic Mashed potatoes, "fancy" turkey, and pumpkin cheesecake not only welcomed but encouraged!!!!!!
