Not totally thought out thought for the day

Why do we strive to teach tolerance instead of acceptance?

Anyone?

I think it has something to do with the difference between agreeing with someone and agreeing to disagree. We can't always accept another's position as valid, because we're human. But we can at least let them be as they are, even if we believe it to be wrong. That's my $.02 worth.

Tolerance gives hope that younger generations won't grow up to be like their narrow-minded parents, with an archaic view of what is acceptable.
